wah wah 45s return to the 12- format to bring you three incredible re-works from french disco don the reflex, for our very own legendary canadian/haitian keyboard wiz henri-pierre noel. funky spider dance is a percussion heavy bomb filled to the brim with henri s soaring piano licks and infectious female vocal hooks. the reflex has taken what was already a sure-fire club favourite, and created something of a dance floor destroyer. his rework of a fifth of beethoven takes its time to build into another heavy hitter. as the beats make way for henri s deft keyboard flourishes, the recognition of this cover of the walter murphy classic (taken from the saturday night fever soundtrack) begins to dawn - and as it does, it s clear that once again the dream team of hpn and the reflex have worked their magic! last, but certainly not least, the reflex s revision of back home..., sweet home is a modern island funk masterpiece with organ and tropical guitar riffs making way for sunny brass stabs all underpinned by foot friendly beats. the original versions of funky spider dance and back home..., sweet home can be found on henri s one more step lp, and his take of a fifth of beethoven was recently available on 7-inches of wax - all on wah wah 45s of course. the reflex revisions all appear here together on vinyl, in fact anywhere, for the very first time!

mugwumps subfield label introduces its first signings with the belgian-italo duo front de cadeaux (brilliantly named after the belgian ebm pioneer group front 242). front de cadeaux are dj athome & dj hugosan. hugo runs the roccodisco label with italian disco mastermind rodion (gomma/nein) while belgian killer dj athome has been spinning italo wave & house in brussels since the 90 s. they expertly produced their own brand of supreme rallentato, which is a fucked-up slo-mo italo, acid, disco, techno and house hybrid that so rightly fits with subfield s mission statement of covering subgenres. their 2 first outings on roccodisco have been remixed by fabrizio mammarella and optimos jd twitch, and a staple in ivan smagghes sets. this full ep on subfield features 2 original f2c obscene & dirty slo-mo tracks at their most playful, ouvre ta bouche and front de cadeaux theme plus the magnificent dub-house of killers. remixes comes courtesy of factory floor s gabe gurnsey (dfa) in a quite brutal bleep-techno mood and manchester s nu-balearic kingpin ruf dug (music for dreams), getting into what he described as a 808 snare roll warehouse analog fucked-up version.

a colourful storm inaugurates its vinyl label with a reissue of a long lost oz classic. formed by brian hall in 1982, denial originally appeared on the legendary m squared label, home to industrial and wave outfits systematics, spk, scattered order and the makers of the dead travel fast. until now, hall s own work has only surfaced once - in 2012, under his aural indifference moniker on the minimal wave tapes volume two compilation. here, denial s version of the mamas and papas classic, and melancholy the weatherman are presented in their original format and deservedly remastered. a colourful storm is a label co-run by moopie, who contributed the second mix cd for silent servant s jealous god imprint.

zipper is zemi17s second release on the bunker new york, and sees him expanding his musical palette considerably, in which his gamelan derived sound design pushes further out towards the expanses of techno s realm. zipper is the product of years of work. the tracks on this record began as field recordings taken from indonesia insect sounds, gamelan, found sounds, says kuffner. each of these tracks comes from a different stage of my music-writing process over the years. i eventually developed a kind of sketch and improv technique, re-arranging groupings and arrangements of a series of elements. zipper reflects a culmination of this technique, and in my opinion, its representative of some of my best work

detroit pressed, official re-master another juan atkins classic from the incredible metroplex catalogue. the chase presents frenetic synth stabs and an electro back beat, further defining the new musical form, detroit techno. reworkings by derrick may add to the dance floor appeal of this classic. as fresh today as its original 1989 release.

beyond the wizards sleeve, the sonic brotherhood of erol alkan and richard norris, present a brand new single, diagram girl released april 8th 2016 on phantasy. taken from a forthcoming album, diagram girl glides into view on the wings of hannah peel s reflective, androgynous vocal, glacial synthesis and a haze of woozy electronic beats, as if its willing spring into existence.

three cuts of heady, cerebral bliss guaranteed to push any dancefloor a little further out into the interstellar, in russell s hands, clay wilson s e4 becomes a spaced-out stepper s delight. his rework of romans coptos lets the acidic undertones of the original run free while snappy percussion holds focus. and while were not one to pick favorites, russells remix of zemi17s rangda, stripped to its bare essentials, is almost a purer representation of the original than the original itself, designed to lift a willing crowd into a trance state

for mimi music, komplexx (poolside recordings / silhouette noir) has delivered a melodic techno / progressive crossover. this moody tune is deep yet melodious and builds beautifully. it’s just one of those tracks that works, with its genre-crossing coolness and excellent production. the remix is provided by our lovely house-specialist sascha dive (deep vibes, cocoon, raum). the german master turns the original into a brooding techno affair which is driven by thumping bass and sparse percussive elements. the remix keeps building until there’s nowhere left to hide, turning the track into an absolute floorfiller!

when we started heist a few years back, our idea was to give a stage to talent in a same way as we have had a helping hand by the labels that have supported us from the beginning. therefore, i’s our pleasure to share this release with you by newcomers ouer, a berlin based duo with only a handful of tracks out so far on their self released debut last year. their approach to producing is very much jam based, and with a compact collection of synths, drum machines and a fair level of distortion, they succeed in creating their own sound with hints of classic electronic music from chicago and detroit. theres a nice mix of energy on the whole ep, the ascent being the most driving track of the package. fans of classics mcde tracks will love show off with its dreamy dx7 style chords and cracking acid lines. move over feels like a jam session that was way too much fun with some lovely solo work on the synths, whereas mess around goes down in similar free-ride style on the synths and again, has some lovely sampling going on. an impressive ep were just all too happy to have on our label. sincerely yours, lars & maarten

with two releases already under his belt on clone, gary gritness aka slikk tim lands on hypercolour with the sugar cane chronicles vol. 1. gritness may be a relatively new name on the block, but his session work for artists like kenny bobien, louie vega and grant nelson has marked up this multi-instrumentalist as a clear talent. hailing from france, gritness had been spotted by underground resitances mad mike banks as one to watch, and on his hypercolour release, displays a deft hand of producing futuristic funk sounds. a spot on blend of raw drum programming and blissfull jazz funk riffs, preachin some tight game sets the eps tone just right with its infectious melodies and cruising groove. darker 1980s soundtrack vibes are explored on stayin strong hand with its thick analogue atmosphere, whilst the laid back and freestyle vibes of working girls demands to be played in the cadillac with the top down! ep closer, fly shit, continues with the tranquil melodies and g-funk factor.

another example of marshall jefferson s unassailable genius in the late 80 s, as he moved effortlessly from raw jackin gear through to redemptive vocals. nowhere near as famous as its predecessor -7 ways- on dance mania but arguably better. re mastered for 2016 and re issued in conjunction with trax.

recorded prior to mills’ departure from the project, “deep into the cut” marks a significant moment in the convergence of the classic industrial aesthetic and the emerging sound of detroit techno. the release serves as a window into this unique moment evoking both the transgressive spirit of european industrial music and the raw militant power of early underground resistance. across the eleven tracks the album affronts a message of sonic urgency and still stands as a landmark statement of the industrial techno sound.
remastered in berlin by rashad becker the release presents the full album as a double vinyl release for the first time. “deep into the cut” is reissued by we can elude control.

one of the most charismatic and respected djs in poland, eltron (aka eltron john) presents what is probably the most expressely club-oriented record in transatlantyk history. his four track offering sounds much like his sets - ferocious and subtle, raw and sophisticated at the same time. the main mix of b&s blends druggy deepness inspired by the vibe of 90s tribal america with uk funky riddims, creating the sort of pneumatic house groove that never fails to get the party rocking. this simple, yet meticulously produced tune has already been road-tested and received enthusiastic feedback from a number of jocks around europe, and the vinyl version seems destined to strengthen its deserved banger-with-a-message status. the dub version of fuses layers of darker, industrial bleeps with a classic break and a rather healthy dose of echo. trippy and rough, yet exhilarating - it is exactly the kind of track you want to hear in a dark warehouse. switch to the b-side for the light , where sampled vocals, pitched-down drums and fuzzy pads are combined to form a unique specimen of lo-fi r n b, eltron-style. this hazy groove is guaranteed to guide dancers ever-so-gently into the light of the morning. finally, reprise exposes the bare bones of the original. with its dubby, in-your-face quality, it is one for the track heads, definitely.

benedikt frey crafts a musical aesthetic that (much like the esp institute) might only be seen in its true form from a birds-eye view—a whole greater than the sum of its parts. his playful indifference to genre specifics and pre-prescribed instrumentation or production techniques makes for a loose and refreshing collection of work, and this debut for the esp institute, the lobbyist, serves up an incongruous three tracks so bewildering and narcotic we’re already impatiently fiending for more. on side a, the title track is no less than a medieval assault. led by a stomping war drum and a blasting bass synth that might literally have caught the studio on fire, an erratic array of clanking percussion, hi-hats and cymbals push us into a sinister corner where his whispering chant grants us the smallest bit of humanity before continuing with the beating. on side b, cupids delight (ft tcb) and gravel both explore variations on beauty—the former in a blur of ghost-like vocals smeared in harmony across a low-slung machine drums, and the latter evoking a tropical affair gone psychedelic, complete with drawn-out disorienting marimba and ritual clave/tom arrangements. welcome home brother benedikt, what took you so long?

legowelt returns to unknown to the unknown for another bunch of wonderful excursions through obsolete musical technology under the banner sampling winter. leading with the title track, this finds danny wolfers on a soulful and deep house vibe with a wandering and mesmerising melody, warm pads and super shuffling garage style rhythm. on the flip is “beach oceano” which is equally rich in soulfulness but more on the deeper techno vibe, with its sharp and hypnotising arpeggio backed by galactic melodies and glistening pads. all accentuated by analogue tape hiss in the background. this is raw!

after a bunch of appearances on a few v.a.s ad two eps for d.ko records and organic music that were very well received, flabaire (one of the men behind d.ko records) releases his first album and reveals a palette of influences that goes far beyond conventional electronic music while still staying true to his love for house music.

french label d3 elements returns to chicago for its next ep, this time looking to the assured house talents of hakim murphy for three tracks of raw, dense grooves right from the heart of the windy city. opener boxbeat is a curious, freaky jam with bobbing percussive hits, wonky, pixel thin synth lines and free roaming pads that wrap the whole thing in a nice sense of spaced-out serenity. taste o rainbow has a much more firmly planted kick drum that pounds away uninterrupted below a free flowing brew of modulate synth sounds. it s expertly reduced and masterfully reserved and is sure to send dance floors wild as a result. the flipside cut freshness has pinging drums and a big, frazzled bass line as slithering chords rain down the face. musical yet jacking, cosmic yet propulsive, it is a perfectly contemporary chicago house sound that rounds out a fine ep from one of the best in the game.

2016 repress.. these reworks by the revenge (soul heaven, jisco music) & greymatter (mr bongo, unique uncut) present two unique interpretations of the original, the revenge strips the track down into one of his trademark slamming mid tempo grooves, whilst greymatter keeps it closer to the original but adds a new level of drama for the dance floor. side b introduces a new talent to the scene – krl. playing on samples and influences from the soul scene and restructuring and resurrecting them as modern dance floor bangers, krls tracks are already creating a big buzz. the massive recession beat has been in constant demand since its first initial promo airings and the storming remember (greymatter rework) is also set to do big things.

the organ grinder mints his new record label with a bulked up reissue of a gem from his back catalogue that will make djs - and dancers - very happy. far from throwaway, this is music rooted in the 90s us garage sound of kerri chandler, masters at work and early todd edwards, with the intensity of true deep house and the light rhythmic touch of ukg. obsession originally came out almost 5 years ago, but there s simplicity in its skittering rhythm and a mantra of rising minor-note synth hits that keep it burning into the dancefloor. x rated hits like its inverted counterpart, with a more heavily weighted drum groove and garage stabs that spiral down your spine. physicality finishes the ep with cunningly-sampled soul music, sung notes of passion belted out over a tense background of keys and rhodes chords, weaving an atmosphere that only comes out of expertly woven harmony

the bush is a homage to the place where i have lived for the last decade (askew road). the askew road itself is slowly changing so i wanted to document all the places that play a big part in mine and my families lives before they eventually get sold for more flats or tescos. 002 was all about the mighty sun pub which has now been sold and transformed into a costa coffee and an estate agents. next up is our local park which hopefully will never see change as its been our little slice of heaven in w12 since we moved here.

for the 7th release on love on the rocks, we welcome the mexican duo zombies in miami for a three track ep titled snake language. the title track is a raw an haunting drum heavy number. on the flip comes calo with its twisting riffs that wind and turn alongside percussive interludes. yamo changes the pace but is no less impressive with climactic flutes and a driving bass line. with this ep, the zombies in miami are literally on fire!

we are happy to welcome ghosts of the sky in the family, 65th & lawndale is a deep and strong track sitting in a side, magical chords, stomping bass and lush drums are the secret of this beauty, a future classic. on the other side, melanin is a bit darker with its flowing pads and acidic bassline, really personnal. acieeed, like you might imagine is a pure acid jam in its most classical form. a fantastic ep we are proud of.
